On October 30, 2026, Vitality Works Inc. of Albuquerque, New Mexico recalled one lot (lot 2025-26227, expiration 10/13/2028) of 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha Capsules, 120 count, because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. According to the company announcement posted by FDA, the potential contamination was identified through routine sampling of a single retail unit, and no illnesses had been reported.

The capsules were sold from November 24, 2025 through October 20, 2026 at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide and on Amazon.com. The firm updated its announcement on October 30 to say distribution was nationwide rather than limited to select states.

What it means for labs

This lot was on sale for almost 11 months before sampling of one retail unit flagged it. Supplement makers that use botanical powders may want to confirm their 21 CFR 111 specifications cover Salmonella testing of incoming botanicals or finished lots, not only total aerobic and yeast and mold counts.

Who it affects

Dietary supplement makers that use botanical ingredients, and the labs that test them
